  (V.人类生命:一首有韵的诗)

  1.Ithinkthat,fromabiologicalstandpoint,humanlifealmostreadslikeapoem.Ithasitsownrhythmandbeat,itsinternalcyclesofgrowthanddecay.Itbeginswithinnocentchildhood,followedbyawardadolescencetryingawkwardlytoadaptitselftomaturesociety,withitsyoungpassionsandfollies,itsideasandambitions;thenitreachesamanhoodofintenseactivities,profitingfromexperienceandhumannature;atmiddleage,thereisaslighteasingoftension,amellowingofcharacterliketheripeningoffruitorthemellowingofgoodwine,andthegradualacquiringofamoretolerant,morecynicalandatthesametimeakindlierviewoflife;theninthesunsetofourlife,theendocrineglandsdecreasetheiractivity,andifwehaveatruephilosophyofoldageandhaveorderedourlifepatternaccordingtoit,itisforustheageofpeaceandsecurityandleisureandcontentment;finally,lifeflickersoutandonegoesintoeternalsleep,nevertowakeupagain.Oneshouldbeabletosensethebeautyofthisrhythmoflife,toappreciate,aswedoingrandsymphonies,itsmaintheme,itsstrainsofconflictandfinalresolution.Themovementsofthesecyclesareverymuchthesameinanormallife,butthemusicmustbeprovidedbytheindividualhimself.Insomesouls,thediscordantnotebecomesharsherandharsherandfinallyoverwhelmsorsubmergesthemainmelody.Sometimesthediscordantnotegainsasmuchpowerthatthemusiccannolongergoon,andtheindividualshootshimselfwithapistolorjumpsintoariver.Butthatisbecausehisoriginalleit-motifhasbeenhopelesslyover-shadowedthroughthelackofagoodself-education.Otherwisethenormalhumanliferunstoitsnormalendinakindofdignifiedmovementandprocession.Therearesometimesinmanyofustoomanystaccatosorimpetuosos,andbecausethetempoiswrong,themusicisnotpleasingtotheear;wemighthavemoreofthegrandrhythmandmajestictempooftheGanges,flowingslowlyandeternallyintothesea.

  1.(我在想啊,以生物观之,人类的生命,读起来就像一首有韵的诗。在成长和消亡的循环里,我们可以听见属於生命本身的节奏和调子。这首诗,从无知的童年记载,到别扭的青春期,笨拙少年人在成年人的社会力争上游,他们燃烧年轻的热诚,虽然愚妄,却是野心B0发地向理想迈进;後来,他们在这个尔虞我诈、充满斗争的场所,看尽了炎凉世态,领悟人X底蕴;到不惑之年,紧绷的人生渐趋放松,人像成熟的葡萄酒一般散发果香,愈发醇美、愈发宽容,对人间事愈发悲观,却又对不平事愈发温和,极高明而道中庸;直至垂暮之年,虽然人T内的分泌物减少,活动能力下降,可是悟道的老智者能够梳理生活的哲理,从心所yu而不踰矩,能知足常乐,安於淡泊,心灵富足;然後,人像风中烛火一样熄灭,回归尘土。人类啊,岂能不为这隽永动人的生命乐章而感动?我们必须欣赏生命!我们的生命就像一首宏大的交响乐,它的每个乐章,主旋律、冲突、和弦,都在引领我们走向尾声,都是人类生命的最佳演绎。虽然乐章能够展现生命的壮丽,可是这首生命的曲子,落实到日常生活,只能够是孤独的奏鸣曲。对於某些生命来说,冲突音成了他们生命的主线,冲突和冲突碰撞,愈发激烈,盖过了生命本身的旋律。有些时候冲突的力量太强,音乐奏不下去,於是这些生命,有的捏着枪对准自己,有的投河自尽。可是这些受绝望笼罩的生命,本来也有着美妙的主旋律。我们必须自我开解,为我们平凡的生命保留一份庄严,为人类生命的光明抗争到底。虽然生命的曲子里,有着许多断音、不协调音,也会荒腔走板,让曲子听来刺耳,可是我们要记住生命本身的雄伟,要像恒河一样,不疾不徐的流,流向大海,流向永恒。)

  2.Noonecansaythatalifewithchildhood,manhoodandoldageisnotabeautifularrangement;thedayhasitsmorning,noonandsunset,andtheyearhasitsseasons,anditisgoodthatitisso.Thereisnogoodorbadinlife,exceptwhatisgoodaccordingtoitsownseason.Andifwetakethisbiologicalviewoflifeandtrytoliveaccordingtotheseasons,noonebutaconceitedfooloranimpossibleidealistcandenythathumanlifecanbelivedlikeapoem.Shakespearehasexpressedthisideamoregraphicallyinhispassageaboutthesevenstagesoflife,andagoodmanyChinesewritershavesaidaboutthesamething.ItiscuriosthatShakespearewasneververyreligious,orverymuchconcernedwithreligion.Ithinkthiswashisgreatness;hetookhumanlifelargelyasitwas,andintrudedhimselfaslittleuponthegeneralschemeofthingsashediduponthecharactersofhisplays.ShakespearewaslifeNatureherself,andthatisthegreatestcomplimentwecanpaytoawriterorthinker.Hemerelylived,observedlifeandwentaway.

  2.(我想,我们都应该同意,从孩提走向成年、暮年,这生命的步伐,就是最美妙的安排;就像每个日子,朝yAn从海平面初昇,中午悬挂半空,h昏时夕yAn西下,漫天落霞,都有它的节奏;又像一年四季,春生夏长,秋收冬藏,都有它的韵律;我说「生命是最美的」也莫过如是。我们判断一个生命遇到的是好是坏,其实是太主观、太武断,如果好与坏不过是四时变化的景sE,那麽,每一道风景都有它的意义,都不能轻言好与坏。要是我们从生物学的角度去看生命的奥妙,从四时变化的规律T认生命的韵味,我相信,只有自负的愚者和不可求药的理想主义者才会否认,人类生命可以活得像诗一样美。西方大文豪莎士b亚具T地描述生命的七个阶段,而许多杰出的中国作家也提到,生命自有它的步调。虽然莎士b亚不怎麽虔诚,也少提及宗教信仰,可是他的伟大处,正是因为他能够看见生命伟大的可能,展现生命的广阔;在作品里面,莎士b亚把自己放进大世界的万事万物里,恰如其分地描写人类生命,突显出整T生命的崇高。依我看来,莎士b亚的作品就像「自然」本身,展现了生命的底蕴,这是我作为一个思想家,对大文豪能作出的最大的赞美。而他不过是活着、考察、T认、描述生命,然後离开,仅此而已啊。)
